The power of pausing

Have you ever been in a situation where you wished things turned out differently? In the flurry of the moment, maybe how you showed up wasn’t exactly what you’d hoped.

I had one of those days recently. It involved a few crossed wires, a missed detail, and a whole lot of “Well, that could’ve gone better.” I’d love to wave a magic wand and grant myself a do-over.

But here’s the thing—looking back, I realized how many valuable lessons came from it.

This small hindsight moment turned into something that can be used to navigate similar situations in the future.

I bring a version of this exercise to my clients regularly.

It’s a structured pause, a moment to take a step back and see the full picture: the decisions, actions, and responses that got us to where we are now, only with the added clarity of a little time and space.

This isn’t just replaying events. This kind of intentional pause is where real growth starts.

The truth? Very few agency owners actually take this time.

It’s no wonder. The demands of running a business often feel nonstop, and when you’re caught in the daily doing, it’s easy to barrel forward, checking off tasks and pushing through challenges without taking a breath.

Yet without that pause, you miss out on the deeper insights that could elevate your leadership, your team, and your entire business.

Reflection—the pause itself—is where growth truly begins.

When you intentionally pause, even for a moment, you create space to gather the lessons and insights that guide you and your agency forward with clarity and purpose.

And, as the end of the year approaches, this reflection becomes even more powerful.

Taking time for a 20/20 perspective offers a fresh look at what went well, where things missed the mark, and the valuable lessons that inspire meaningful adjustments.

By taking that pause to Reflect, you gather insights so you can set a clear direction forward.

You’ve got this.
