The art of saying YES

The art of saying YES

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned on my journey as a business owner and leader is the art of saying “yes” only to what matters most.

The term, what matters most, gets thrown around a lot.

But have you ever paused to take stock of what TRULY matters most to you?

When you’re crystal clear on what matters most, it’s your job to eliminate everything that stands in the way.

There’s no doubt you’re constantly bombarded with opportunities, requests, and demands on your time and resources.

Some of these may intrigue and entice you like a siren song leading you toward being overworked and overcommitted.

It can be tempting to say “yes” to everything, to BE all things to all people.

But the truth is, saying “yes” to everything is not only impossible, it’s also counterproductive. It won’t be long before you find yourself spread to thin, your time and energy deflating like a balloon.  This is how you master the art of saying “yes”.

Here are 3 good reasons to say “yes” only to what matters most:

Clarity and Focus: When you’re clear on your goals, values and priorities you’re able to evaluate opportunities based on how well they align with those things. Using this as a filter, you can say “no” to distractions and requests that don’t serve your best interests.

Elevated Effectiveness: When you say “yes” only to what matters most, you are naturally more productive. You’re better able to focus your time and energy on the things that have the most significant impact on your business, and avoid the things that don’t.

Greater Impact: By pursuing only the opportunities that make a difference to your goals, your impact will amplify. Even better, you’ll create a ripple effect of positive change that extends beyond your business and into the world.

Saying “yes” only to what matters is about being intentional, focused and strategic in your decisions.

My invitation to you is to take the time to evaluate opportunities, prioritize based on impact, and say “yes” only to what truly matters most.

You and your business will be better for it.
