How to stay focused in the face of distractions

How to stay focused in the face of distractions

This is the third of a 4-part series on optimizing your focus so you can DO your best work and BE your best self:  Part 1: Here’s how to set yourself up for success  / Part 2: This is what’s possible when you put your focus first

Do you ever feel like doing your best work is out of reach because your attention refuses to lock onto what matters?

We’ve all been there …

You’re trying to concentrate on what’s in front of you, but your mind keeps wandering.

The emails you need to answer, the meeting tomorrow morning, or how much is still left to do before the end of the day.

And then suddenly it’s midnight and you’re tossing and turning, ruminating over all the things that didn’t get done.

When your mental space is full of clutter, doing your best work is like trying to read a book with the TV on in the background.

You can do it, but it takes effort.

It’s tiring to keep yourself from getting distracted, leaving little energy for you to access your creativity or deep thinking … which are the stepping stones to your potential!

Not only does this make it harder to focus, it makes you feel overwhelmed, frustrated and anxious.

One of my clients refers to mental clutter of distractions as confetti brain. 🙂

This is when it’s time to flex your Mental Focus Force.

Your Mental Focus Force is the “Brain Power” behind your ability to pay attention to what matters most.

Think of it as the fuel behind being focused.

You know what I’ve found in my 20 years of supporting women in busy businesses?

YOU are your biggest distraction.

I know, this may sound harsh, but it’s delivered with love.

Only you can control your mind.

And this starts by asking yourself this empowering question …

Is what I’m doing/thinking right now, moving me toward my desired destination?

If the answer is yes … then keep going.

If the answer is no … then it’s time to flex your Mental Focus Force and shift your attention back on what matters most.

Let’s face it, we live in a world of distractions.

Our minds are constantly bombarded with distractions like information overload, and it’s easy to get caught up in the sheer volume of it all.

It’s within your personal power to clear the noise from your distracted mind.

Accessing your Mental Focus Force is one of the most important things you can do on your journey to a better way of BEING in your business.
