How are you feeling during these turbulent times?
One thing the pandemic has shown us is the importance of human connection.
In business, this traditionally came through a handshake, a networking event or even sitting down for a coffee with someone.
As many businesses have changed how they deliver their service, you as a business owner have also had to change how you connect with others.
This was particularly challenging for me, because my favourite form of connecting with others is in-person.
Same for you?
However, what the pandemic may have shown you is how adaptive you can be because you can still find connection, even if it’s through a computer screen.
One thing remains true … who you surround yourself with plays a key role in how inspired, supported and energized you feel.
And that creates a ripple effect on your beliefs, actions and results.
In England, the power of community was demonstrated when a group of writers and poets came together to support each other. In that group were CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien. The power of that collective brilliance gave birth to The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings.
It’s hard to imagine the world without these two classics, right?
What I know after spending almost 2 decades as a business owner is this …
One of the hardest things about running your own business is the isolation that can creep in. Lack of connection can leave you feeling defeated and deflated.
If this resonates with you, the thing to remember is you’re not alone … even though you may feel that way.
There are other business owners, just like you, who have those same feelings.
I remember back when I was sitting at my desk, alone, uninspired and bored with my business. I was on the verge of burnout when an opportunity came for me to join a group of women in business. Together, we formed deep connections, held each other accountable to achieve our goals, and gave unlimited support as we rode the entrepreneurial roller coaster.
I can honestly say, that was a defining moment in my business. It empowered me to move past the isolation I was feeling, and soar back into action.
So if you’re feeling bored, uninspired and disconnected. I encourage you to find your people. Surround yourself with like-minded business owners who are tired of feeling alone and want to grow their businesses alongside others who are on the same path.
