Close your eyes and think back to the beginning of your business.
Remember the excitement you felt? It was exhilarating, right?
And then, somewhere along the line … things started to feel hard.
Your patience was maxed out fighting fires and, yes even dealing with your clients.
The honeymoon was over.
Sometimes running your business isn’t all roses and chocolates.
Some days, you may even fantasize about getting a j.o.b.
Yet, deep down you know your business is your calling and you wouldn’t want to do anything else.
The good news is I also know how to break past the burnout barriers that are standing in your way.
Here are 5 ways to get unstuck and rekindle the passion you have for your business:
1. Seek Guidance.
No matter where you are on your business journey, there’s always someone who is a few steps ahead and has been where you want to be.
Finding a mentor or coach is a shortcut to getting unstuck. Their lessons learned and experienced guidance will help you bypass common missteps so your path to success is more direct.
2. Surround yourself with like-minded people.
Something magical happens when you’re surrounded by others who are at the same place in business as you.
You absorb the energy of the community. You become part of a group of highly motivated, smart women who are committed to success in their own businesses. You’ll feel supported as you take action and move forward. And you are there to support them as well. Giving back and being of service to others is a powerful propellant to moving past malaise.
3. Soak in your genius.
It’s easy to use your energy doing the mundane tasks in your business. Sometimes the boring, mindless work can feel like a bit of a refuge and give you a false sense of making progress. Yet at the end of the day, you aren’t closer to accomplishing your priorities.
Reconnecting with your genius … your passion, your unmistakable brilliance is what feels fun and inspiring in your business. So, create space to be there more. I know for me, if I’m away from coaching my clients for too long, I feel my energy and mindset drop.
4. Dare to dream.
The picture you have in your mind of your dream business and life is a powerful motivator to achieving more. What does your dream business look like? How do you feel doing it? Your answers to these questions paint a picture for you that will inspire and motivate you.
Being able to see and feel your business and life vision will get you out of the slump you’re feeling and re-energize you to continue on your path towards it.
5. Take one small step.
Being stuck is often a case of feeling like you’re caught in a whirlwind, mesmerized by too many potential next steps. You’re blocked because it’s unclear which step feels like the right one and it leaves you feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to begin.
What I tell my clients (and myself!) when this happens is to pause and answer this question … what’s one simple thing you can do right now to move this forward?
When that block is resolved it’s like opening the floodgates and your path becomes crystal clear.
