Escape Perfection Paralysis

3 Keys to Escape Perfection Paralysis

I have a confession.

I’ve been putting off doing something in my business that I know will move it forward and help more people.

But I’ve been delaying doing it.

Procrastination is running rampant and I’ve come up with a dozen reasons why I’m not ready to put it out there, yet.

Has this ever happened to you?

I’m sure I’ve seen you at the Perfection Paralysis Party!

Many business owners just like you and me, get caught in the perfectionism trap … playing it safe.

Afraid to put yourself and your work out there in a bigger way.

One thing I know for sure:

… your quest to get it perfect is keeping you small.

Perfection is your enemy.

I’ve discovered striving for perfection is a futile battle. In the end, the only thing it does is leaves you open to procrastination and distraction … the evil stepsisters of getting your important work accomplished.

Perfectionism will keep you from achieving your goals. It keeps you in your comfort zone where you will do three things:

  1. Not start something
  2. Not finish something
  3. Stall your business growth

Here are 3 keys to overcoming perfectionism …

1. Make friends with failure

Reframe the way you look at failure. Rather than seeing it as a judgement on your ability, think of failure as a redirection of your path. The most successful entrepreneurs have innovated and iterated their way through failure.

2. Accept the mantra that “Good is Good Enough”

This is your get out of jail free card. Reciting this mantra to yourself regularly allows you to keep moving forward and not get stuck in the spiral of redoing your work until it is just right.

3. Banish the critics

Everyone has an opinion and most love to voice it, especially those with no skin in the game. As a business owner, your ideas and accomplishments may be judged by others. That’s par for the course. The key is not to take it personally and do it anyway.

Remember, armchair critics have no room in your business.

My wish for you is to take imperfect action every day. It’s your fastest path to success.
