How to set goals without being overwhelmed

December 18, 2018By

How often have you set goals for the New Year, only to have them never see the light of day?

I call this the set it and forget it method.

You think of a goal, maybe you write it down and then the busyness of the day takes over and you’re swept away fighting fires and dealing with the urgent tasks (which often don’t support your goals). Before you know it, the year is over and you’re left pondering what your business goals were in the first place.

This leads to having a dust heap of broken ideas and dismantled dreams.

I know I’ve been guilty of this more than a few times.

Many business owners I meet are skeptical when it comes to setting business goals for the New Year. Whether it’s revenue, number of clients, social media, the hesitation for putting the goal out there can suddenly make everything in the business too overwhelming.

  • What if I can’t accomplish it?
  • What if I can’t keep up with the workload?
  • What if I can’t handle the change that will come?

These are just some of the barriers that get in the way and prevent you from moving forward.

Here’s something for you to consider …

What would you accomplish if you were guaranteed to be successful?

When you read that sentence, what emotion do you immediately feel?

I ask my clients this question all the time, and the number one answer is … excited!

In this two-minute video, I take you through an exercise that will set your imagination and goals free and empower you to build a business you love.

When I did this exercise, I was so inspired. I felt in control of my future and excited to put my goals in motion to move forward, focused on what was possible.

The What If fears dissolved. And I was proud to put my business goals out into the world.

What is possible for your business in the New Year, if you were guaranteed to achieve your goals?
